Appalachian State Retains No. 1 Despite LSU Loss

Appalachian State retained the No. 1 ranking in The Sports Network FCS Top-25 Poll, despite its 41-13 loss to defending BCS champion LSU, but its lead at the top of the poll closed.
The Mountaineers received 62 of 110 first-place votes and 2,625 points after getting 97 first-place votes in the preseason poll.
North Dakota State, a 41-6 winner over Austin Peay, remained second with 42 first-place votes, up from one first-place vote in the preseason poll. The Bison had 2,555 total points.
